-Collaborative Research Center opens next year: worried about students making it to class on time, might be a shuttle service. Might have junior BIOE classes over there.

-Sam, as populist as ever, has posted a poll online concerning the ongoing newspaper crisis. The Sunday issue seems to be on the budget cut chopping block. Next up: laundry service, servery breakfasts, and beds for the new colleges.

-Newspaper Update: Most people are okay with not getting the weekend; we can just use other colleges’ issues on the weekends (i.e. Wiess and Hanszen). We’re going to get more of the Times and less of the Chronicle based on Sam’s survey of various Sidizens.

-There will be no more paper GAs in the future.

-The constitution committee is considering various comments from the college and putting a restructured document together that will be sent out to EC when ready. We want to get this done by the end of this week. Goal: appoint committee heads by the end of the year.

Sam opened up council by bestowing unto the masses a pair of golden trays. According to Sam, these trays were bequeathed to us by Sid W. Richardson himself, and should be given to the Sidizen(s) of the Week. The Beer Bike Coordinators were rewarded for their efforts last week with the trays, which they can use now for a week’s worth of cutsies in line. Just a heads up though, there are still a lot of fumes coming off those things.

Below are the proposed committee system changes. You can make comments on this system. We will be holding a forum Thursday night at 10pm in the commons to discuss concerns and ideas.

I. Academics

The Academics Chair shall be selected by EC following turn over in the spring. The position shall be held by one or two Sid Richardson College members planning to return the year following appointment.

The committee shall be obligated:
A. To execute the fall college course previously planned by their predecessor
B. To plan and execute the spring college course.

Administration has decided to nix paying for Sid’s subscriptions to the New York Times and Houston Chronicle. Lucky for us, Sam says we can pay for news subscriptions ourselves. Our personal shortlist for new periodicals includes The Christian Science Monitor, and maybe Hustler.

Elections for U Court Rep, Honor Council Rep, Senior Justice, the new Ryan Fleming, and (maybe) a Varsity Sports Liaison are coming up next Monday and Tuesday. E-mail AJ if you’d like a petition for one of these positions.
