Domination: 19-6 Sid Victory!

-President Sam Wang, as resolutely anti-swine flu as ever, hopes that the roommates and suitemates of flu victims won’t be dicks and starve them to death. Coincidentally, Chef Joyce has prepared more portable K-rations for roommates to take back upstairs to anyone in quarantine.

- We need to send a list-serv message out with a little more information concerning the flu going around on campus.
- Roommates and suitemates need to be sure to get their sick roommates food from the servery or make other arrangements to get them food.
- Thermometers are available from the health advisors.
- Anyone who has the flu should NOT take aspirin; only Tylenol and similar products.

-Next Tuesday, September 8th, Bron Bron will be hosting an open house for any interested students in checking out McDuncan. If you’ve never had the chance to squeegee your way out of a flooded prison shower, this might just be your lucky day.

- As a part of this year’s common reading program, best-selling author Helene Cooper is coming to Rice this Thursday to give a lecture. Cooper will be speaking at 7:00 pm in Tudor Fieldhouse, but she’ll be hard-pressed to top Greg Mortenson’s presentation from last year. That man’s daughter has the voice of an angel.

-We’ll need to meet at 9:00 next Sunday so that the Socials can be present for EC.
- We might want to consider moving some of the shakier tables out of the commons for 80s Party. Where would they go? Should we bring in an actual stage for people to dance on?
- How should we accommodate all of the extra people at the party (especially with the size of this year’s freshman class)? We should look into getting a copy of the maximum occupancy certificate for the commons so we have it on hand.
- September 8th: New College Open House from 3-5 pm.

- Rice students are getting four more parking spots in the South College Lot. Sid gets one additional spot no matter what. We might try to trade one of our Rainbow Building spots to Lovett for another spot by Wiess.
- In lieu of the vacancy on the secretary team, EC will be appointing an Assistant Secretary to handle backpage duties. This position will only entail producing backpages for council minutes; it will not involve any actual voting responsibilities on EC.

For now anyway.

I.Academics

The Academics Chair shall be selected following turn over in the spring. The position shall be held by one or two Sid Richardson College members planning to return the year following appointment.

The committee shall be obligated:
A.To execute the fall college course previously planned by their predecessors.
B.To plan and execute the spring college course.

-Last night, Claire and Matt revealed the new Sid masters: Dale and Elise Sawyer! Even though they used to be masters over at Will Rice, two of their kids went came through Sid, so they seem pretty legit. Word on the street says they like the stacks. It’ll be fun to change their minds about that.
