- E-mail Sloane if you’re planning on or considering going abroad or moving off campus next semester.

- The “Frequently Annual Sid Pumpkin Carving Contest” will be held next week leading up to Halloween. Look for an e-mail with the details. Participants should be aware of the inherent nutrition found in freshly carved gourds. Just ask Matt King about their vitamin-rich innards.

- In case you haven’t heard, Baker 13 will be running on Halloween this year. If you’re planning on avoiding JAG’s Pinocchio-inspired NOD costume and want to prevent Baker from “wiping their bits” on our pancake griddles, then e-mail Sam about heading up Baker Defense.

- Sam talked to Wiess Social Charlie Dai. Baker 13 will be running at 9:00 pm, one hour before NOD starts. Wiess will be doing Baker Defense outside in a fort-like structure. We could arrange a similar set-up outside of Sid in order to prevent Baker from entering the commons during NOI.
- Another committee head meeting will be held in the near future, within the next two weeks.
- Due to midterm recess, there will be no council next week.
- We may want to consider arranging a ride-sharing program for this upcoming weekend.

The “We Used to Be Called Sidsters?” Minutes

Submitted by Kevin.Montrose on Wed, 09/30/2009 - 18:45.

- After seeing the mural that Pawel, Kang, and Mariana painted for 80s Party, Bron Bron felt inspired to tear down the wall separating Sid from Lovett (and roughly half of campus)…on Sundays. That’ll be good though, since it’ll help you get to class on—oh, wait a minute…never mind.

- Sam would like you to know that you can e-mail construction@rice.edu if you have any “issues with the construction.” If your issue entails stopping the construction, you’re wrong. If it entails removing inconvenient and unnecessary fences, see above.

- We might be getting rid of the gas grill in the country club. It’s pretty rusty and seems to be non-functional, but we’ll need to check it out first.
- Sid could finance its own supply of newspapers by spending $1,500 for 30 newspapers, six days a week. As of right now, EC has decided that the money could be put to better use.
- Dean Forman has expressed concerns regarding the increased number of damages and work orders around campus. When we reexamine the bylaws in the near future, we may revisit the idea of a “damages honor system.”

- We need to select this year’s Beer Bike Coordinators by October 15th. We’ll discuss this year’s applicant pool next week on Tuesday at 9:00 pm.
- This weekend is Families’ Weekend. There’s a lecture series on Thursday, a special event at the MFAH on Friday night (parent tickets are now sold out), and a Masters-led roundtable discussion on Saturday in the commons at 9:00 am. There is also a home football game against Vanderbilt that night.

The “Garrett Guy is a D-bag Tree-Killer” Minutes

Submitted by Kevin.Montrose on Wed, 09/16/2009 - 05:24.

- According to Ambassador Meesh, next week will be “Duncan Week” here at Sid. Apparently, the Duncaroos will be getting baked with the RAs on Monday and dropping in on us throughout the week. Unfortunately, these Duncaroos don’t come with frosting—just a self-consciously apparent lack of college traditions.

-We need to distribute the brainstorming sheets from the Sid Retreat to the committee heads and floor reps.
-Next week will be “Duncan Week” here at Sid. The Duncaroos will be visiting us in order to learn about our college, as well as its traditions and government.

-EC will meet with the socials and justices on Wednesday at 10:00 pm in order to plan and discuss 80s Party further.
