Fellows/PAAs Summer Opportunities and Internship Fair Wednesday 10/26 9pm in commons (and food)

This Wednesday, 10/26 at 9pm, the Fellows and PAAs will be co-hosting a summer internship and research opportunities fair in the commons (there will also be lots of good food).

We'll have a brief presentation and then break out into groups where underclassmen can learn first-hand from older Sidizens the different opportunities available to them. There will be several students who have had all kinds of internships in business, engineering, medicine, leadership, global health and more plus various research at Rice and abroad (humanities and natural sciences). These students have volunteered to share their experiences and give pointers and advice to those looking to pursue similar opportunities.

So come down this Wednesday and learn what you can do this summer from your fellow Sidizens.

Commons, Wed., 10/5 at 8pm - "How to Give a Presentation" with Dr. Tracy Volz and Fellows (and food)

The Fellows will be hosting Dr. Tracy Volz this evening (Wednesday, 10/5) at 8pm in the commons to teach us how to give an effective presentation to a wide range of audiences (there will be food). Dr. Volz is a senior lecturer in communication skills and she is very good at what she does. She will go over delivery techniques and effective organization/design where you will learn valuable skills to use no matter what major/job/project/etc. you apply them in.

Her presentation will last 30-45 minutes, afterwards the floor will be open for any questions you may have.

Everyone is encouraged to attend no matter what your class level - this will be extremely beneficial for those of you that have presentations coming up or want more information on presentation technique for the future.

And remember, your Fellows are here to help you with presentations at any point this year for any class. Contact Andrew (aco1@rice.edu), Mia (mfv1@rice.edu), or me (mlt2@rice.edu) if you ever need help (watching presentations, just going over slides, etc.).
